What exactly is the REPS Scheme?
The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a South Australian Government energy efficiency scheme that provides incentives for SA households and businesses to save energy and money.
It does this through establishing energy productivity targets to be met by electricity and gas retailers.
The REPS scheme commenced in 2021 to replace the previous program called the Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme, that provided energy efficiency products for the commercial and residential sector. The REPS is designed to reduce peak demand energy consumption and create a more flexible and dynamic energy market for South Australian residents and businesses. It does this by creating incentives for energy consumers to upgrade their energy consuming appliances like air conditioning and hot water systems to more efficient models at low or no cost through accredited service providers.
Who is Eligible?
South Australian businesses and households may be able to access discounted or free energy efficiency activities.
To take advantage of these offers, products must be accredited and installed by an REPS-accredited MAC TS electrician.
BUSINESSES
BUSINESSES MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR FREE OR REPS-DISCOUNTED LED LIGHTING REPLACEMENTS, REFRIGERATED DISPLAY CABINETS, AIR CONDITIONING, HOT WATER, APPLIANCE REBATES AND VPP CONNECTION REBATES.
HOUSEHOLDS
Households may be eligible for REPS discounted products such as air conditioning, hot water, appliance rebates and VPP connection rebates.
Priority Group Households
For the purposes of the REPS, a “priority group” household is as defined in the Electricity (General) Regulations 2012 and Gas Regulations 2012 as follows:
priority group household means residential premises in which a person resides who:
(a) is the holder of a current pensioner concession card issued by the Commonwealth Government; or
(b) is the holder of a current TPI Gold Repatriation Health Card issued by the Commonwealth Government; or
(c) is the holder of a current War Widows Gold Repatriation Health Card issued by the Commonwealth Government; or
(d) is the holder of a current Gold Repatriation Health Card (EDA) issued by the Commonwealth Government; or
(e) is the holder of a current Health Care Card (including a Low Income Health Care Card) issued by the Commonwealth Government; or
(f) is a recipient of the South Australian Government Energy Concession
(g) falls within a class of persons who are experiencing hardship determined or approved by the Minister or the Commission for the purposes of these regulations. This includes residential customers who are actively participating in retailer hardship programs and residential customers who receive a referral from a registered member of the South Australian Financial Counsellors Association (SAFCA)
(h) A renter that pays $500 per week or less in rent on their home or unit.
