The Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) provides financial incentives to install energy-efficient equipment and appliances in NSW households and businesses. Using more energy-efficient equipment puts downward pressure on electricity prices for NSW residents and enterprises. In 2022 alone, the ESS achieved $513 million in net bill savings for NSW households and businesses and will deliver 37,000 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy savings by 2030. That's enough to power the whole of Australia for almost two months.
The Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) was established in September 2021 and aims to increase peak demand reduction capacity during hours of high demand. Reducing peak demand minimises the risk of blackouts or price spikes during hot summer days when electricity usage can surge.
It's our objective at MAC Trade Services to ensure every NSW property can make energy-smart decisions and enjoy the financial and environmental rewards of cutting-edge, energy-efficient technology.
MAC Trade Services is your destination for top-quality, affordable NSW-accredited energy solutions.
Business Lighting
LED lighting is renowned for its energy efficiency, consuming up to 75% less energy than traditional incandescent lighting and lasting up to 25 times longer.
The NSW ESS scheme upgrades the lighting in NSW businesses to 100% LED lighting. The scheme will upgrade your lighting to help you save 80% of your light energy costs and enjoy a 5-year warranty. The Scheme requires that you pay a minimum co-payment of $5 per mega-watt hour (MWh) of electricity saved. For example, if the upgrade results in 50 MWh of energy savings, the purchaser must contribute a minimum of $250 (excluding GST) (i.e. $5 x 50 MWh).
Under the ESS, accredited certificate providers like MAC Trade Services play a pivotal role in promoting energy efficiency for businesses, councils, and distributors. Our service involves conducting energy assessments, designing tailored LED lighting solutions that meet the specific needs of each client, and overseeing the installations. We ensure that the upgrades are compliant with the ESS requirements, enabling businesses and councils to not only reap the benefits of reduced energy consumption but also to earn energy savings certificates.

Household Batteries
Starting November 1, 2024, new battery incentives will be available under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS). Installers and companies can team up with accredited certificate providers (ACPs) like MAC Trade Services, who will facilitate the battery and VPP rebates on their behalf, eliminating the need for them to get accredited themselves.
These programs create units called ‘Certificates’ based on the energy saved from the installation. In the PDRS, saving 0.1kW of power during peak times earns one Peak Demand Reduction Certificate (PRC). These certificates can be sold on the carbon offset market, usually to Energy Retailers who need to acquire them to surrender against their annual obligations.
