Government Rebates and Discounts – What You Need to Know
If you're upgrading to an energy-efficient hot water system, you may be eligible for government rebates, including:
- Solar Victoria rebates
- Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) – available to everyone. Rebate will be dependent on your Climate Zone.
- Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) – available when switching to an electric heat pump.
Eligibility for Solar Victoria Rebates
Rebates from Solar Victoria come with specific eligibility requirements. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be the owner-occupier of the home where the system will be installed
- The combined taxable income of all owners must be less than $210,000 per year
- Your property must be valued at under $3 million
- The property must not have previously received a Solar Victoria hot water or solar battery rebate under the Solar Homes Program
- The current hot water system must be at least three years old from the original purchase date
If you do not meet these requirements, you may not be able to access the Solar Victoria rebate.
Emergency Installations - If your system is installed as part of an emergency installation under the Solar Victoria program, but approval is not granted, a $1,000 fee may apply.

Warranty Period
Hot Water Systems installed are covered by a 1-year installation warranty and a 5-year product warranty, please refer to the product manufacturer for warranty terms and conditions.

- Price: the prices above are estimates and assume the heat pump hot water system is installed in the same location as your existing hot water system, and a power point and drain are available at that location. Additional fees may apply for electrical works (eg. to install a power point) and for non-standard installations. Final pricing is subject to a site inspection and depends on conditions or specific installation requirements.
- Rebates: the prices above include VEECs (Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates), STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates) and the $1,000 Solar Victoria rebate. Rebates are calculated based on Climate Zone 4. Check with your installer to confirm if you’re eligible for these rebates.
