REPS is an initiative from the South Australian Government to support local households and businesses in saving energy. Under the REPS scheme, eligible consumers can receive incentives and rebates when upgrading to more energy-efficient hot water, air conditioning, lighting, and more.

If your site (NMI) consumes over 160 MWh of electricity per year or in the last 12 months (which means your monthly bills will be approximately $4,000). You may be considered a large energy user. MAC Trade Services will be able to tell from your electricity bill once you submit it with your application form
REPS requires large energy customers to contribute a minimum of $1.70 (incl. GST) per GJ saved by the upgrade. Small business customers (those who consume less than 160MWh in the last 12 months) must contribute a minimum of $33 (incl. GST) towards the upgrade.
REPS activities are available for eligible South Australian households and businesses where the same REPS activities have not been undertaken before and where inefficient appliances exist. This depends on the type and number of lights being replaced. For instance, if replacing fluorescent tubes with LED tubes, the energy savings per tube is ~ 24W (36W replaced with 12W). Old metal halide highbays typically use ~400 – 450W. These are replaced with ~110 – 120W LED highbays, saving significant electricity per light. As all installations are compliant with AS/NZS 1680, there is no loss of lumination; it may even be improved.

A business lighting upgrade involves replacing high pressure sodium, metal halide, fluorescent, halogen and/or incandescent globes with LED lighting that has equivalent light output.
Under REPS, the annual energy productivity targets and the savings per upgrade are expressed in normalised gigajoules (GJ) of energy. The MACTS specialist will calculate your energy savings when they visit your site for an obligation-free quote.
New installations which don’t involve replacing existing, working lights aren’t eligible for REPS benefits and will be charged at market rates. Any additional parts or materials, electrical switchboard work or upgrades and/or scissor lift hire may also incur an additional cost, depending on the site and the size of the job.
