New platform helps installers unlock extra revenue with minimal extra admin

The platform connects your customers to Virtual Power Plants with no complicated onboarding, no extra systems to manage, a range of VPP providers to choose from that will provide a commission bonus on every successful connection made.

MAC Trade Services has officially launched its new VPP Marketplace through BridgeSelect, giving NSW solar and battery installers a simpler way to add VPP connections to their existing install process while creating an additional revenue stream.

Built specifically for trades, the platform allows installers to offer VPP participation as part of a normal battery installation, in the same place they create the STC rebate, streamlining the connection without changing the way they work day-to-day.

The initiative addresses a growing challenge across the renewable energy industry, where customers are increasingly asking questions about battery optimisation, energy savings and Virtual Power Plants but installers are often left navigating complex onboarding systems, a variety of apps, compliance requirements and monthly reconciliations of referral fees by retailer..

The MAC Trade Services VPP Marketplace simplifies the process into a single easy-to-use workflow in the same place that thousands of tradespeople already register and trade their STCs..

How it works

The process is designed to integrate directly into an installer’s existing workflow:

  1. Sign up with MAC Trade Services as a partner to access the BridgeSelect VPP Marketplace through https://mactradeservices.com.au/partner-with-us
  2. On the same day the battery is installed, the installer will show the customer a range of compatible VPP offers for their battery.
  3. The customer selects the VPP they are interested in and a request is automatically issued to the VPP retailer highlighting the tradesperson who made the referral.
  4. Once the customer is onboarded to the VPP, the tradesperson who made the connection receives a $100 successful lead generation fee for making the connection..
  5. The customer can then go and claim their state based VPP connection rebate through the VPPs preferred service provider..

According to MAC Trade Services, the extra workload can be as little as a few minutes per job explaining what a VPP is, showcasing the offers available and making the connection request..

This platform was built because we understand what installers are dealing with every day,” said Merrily Hunter, CEO at MAC Trade Services.

“We wanted to remove friction, reduce admin and create a system where installers can participate in the future energy market without adding hours of extra paperwork.”

Helping installers become trusted energy advisors

As battery adoption accelerates across NSW, customers are increasingly looking to installers for advice beyond the installation itself.

Questions like:

  • What is a VPP and is it worth it?
  • Which VPP should I choose?
  • How do I get connected after install?

are becoming part of everyday customer conversations.

MAC Trade Services says the VPP Marketplace positions installers as trusted advisors, giving them the tools, information and support to confidently guide customers through VPP participation.

“Installers are no longer just installing solar and batteries,” Merrily said.

“They’re becoming trusted energy advisors. Customers want guidance around VPPs, energy optimisation and long-term savings and installers need systems that make those conversations easier.”

A new revenue opportunity for NSW installers

Unlike traditional VPP processes that often exclude installers from the customer journey after installation, the MAC Trade Services VPP Marketplace creates a direct commercial opportunity for trades.

Installers are rewarded for successful VPP connections without needing to change how they operate day-to-day.

The platform also removes the need to manage multiple provider systems or additional administrative processes, helping installers deliver a complete energy solution while focusing on what they do best. Much of the same documentation a customer needs to claim the state based VPP incentive is what is generated for an STC claim during installation, by loading this same information into the platform and making the connection for the customer, the workload is reduced and connections made smoother. VPP Retailers can connect to thousands of tradespeople and trades can access commissions/incentives from Retailers without having to maintain individual contracts and monthly reporting processes.
