Air Conditioning Rebates
Am I eligible for a rebated air conditioning installation?
You may be eligible if you are a South Australian household or small business and you have not previously received REPS support for air conditioning at this property.
What types of air conditioners are eligible under REPS?
Eligible systems include energy-efficient split system air conditioners that meet minimum energy star ratings and comply with REPS requirements. Our team will help you select an appropriate model when you apply.
Can I choose the brand and model of air conditioner?
Yes, you can choose from our range of energy-efficient models that meet REPS eligibility requirements. Our team will discuss available options and help you select the best system for your needs and budget.
How long does an air conditioning installation take?
Most installations can be completed in one day. However, complex installations or sites requiring additional electrical work may take longer. Our installer will provide a timeframe during the initial assessment.
How long is the wait for an appointment?
Wait times can vary depending on demand. Scheduling air conditioning installations can take longer during busy periods, such as summer.
For the most up-to-date wait times, contact the MAC Trade Services customer service team on 1300 430 917.
Do you provide a warranty on the air conditioning installation?
Yes. All installations come with a two-year workmanship warranty from MAC Trade Services, and the air conditioning unit itself will have a five-year manufacturer’s warranty.
What’s covered?
- The manufacturer’s warranty covers the air conditioning units, including the indoor and outdoor units.
- The workmanship warranty covers the installation work, including pipework and wiring.
If you ever have an issue, get in touch and we’ll help you work out the next steps.
What should I do if I experience a problem with my air conditioner after installation?
If something doesn’t seem right after your installation, contact us.
Call our customer service team on 1300 430 917 or email customerservice@mactradeservices.com.au.
Please explain the issue, the installation date, and address, and our team will make an assessment and contact you to arrange repair or replacement if required.
Which locations do you service?
Our installers primarily work in the Adelaide metropolitan area and within approximately 1 to 1.5 hours travel from the CBD.
If you live further away, we may still be able to assist you. You’ll be placed on a waitlist and contacted when an installer is scheduled to attend your area. Additional travel costs may apply.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the installation?
Our team will provide specific instructions when scheduling your installation.
Generally, you should ensure the installation area is accessible and clear of obstructions. Indoor and outdoor unit locations will be confirmed during the site assessment.
Will I need an electrical upgrade for my new air conditioner?
In some cases, older homes may require a switchboard upgrade or additional electrical work to safely support a new air conditioning system.
Our installer will assess your electrical system during the initial visit and advise if any upgrades are needed. Additional costs may apply for electrical upgrades.
Can I upgrade an existing air conditioner under REPS?
Yes. If you already have an older or inefficient air conditioning system, you may be able to replace it with a more energy-efficient model through REPS.
This applies as long as there has not already been a REPS air conditioning upgrade completed at the same property.
What size air conditioner do I need?
The right size air conditioner depends on the size of the room or area you want to heat or cool.
Our team will assess your space and recommend the correct system size during the consultation to ensure efficient operation and comfort.
Do you offer reverse cycle air conditioning?
Yes, we offer reverse cycle split systems that provide both cooling in summer and heating in winter, making them a year-round energy-efficient solution.
What is the energy star rating, and why does it matter?
The energy star rating indicates how efficiently an air conditioner uses electricity.
Higher-rated models use less energy to deliver the same level of cooling or heating, resulting in lower running costs and reduced environmental impact. REPS requires minimum energy star ratings to ensure installations deliver genuine energy savings.
Are there any ongoing maintenance requirements?
Regular maintenance helps keep your air conditioner running efficiently.
We recommend cleaning or replacing filters every few months and scheduling a professional service annually. Our team can provide model-specific maintenance recommendations.
